How it plays
Wyrmspan builds a dragon sanctuary in three stages. Excavating opens a space with a cave card, enticing places a dragon there, and exploring sends your adventurer through a cave to collect benefits and activate dragons. Longer, well-developed caves give an exploration action more to do.
The aim is to finish with the most points from dragons, round objectives, eggs, and other scoring benefits. Development competes for coins, resources, cards, and eggs. A dragon with an appealing ability still needs an excavated space and its printed costs paid. Some cave spaces and card effects advance your token around the Dragon Guild track, earning rewards as it moves. That offers another reason to choose a particular dragon or exploration route.
Decisions you’ll make
Check that you can complete the excavation-and-dragon sequence before spending resources on its first step.
Decide when another dragon improves a cave enough to justify delaying an exploration through it.
Learning the game
Teach excavating, enticing, and exploring with their costs, then explain the guild and the timings of dragon abilities.
